Wildebeest, Connochaetes spp.

 

 

Native Country:

 

Africa.  Back from extinction because of reintroduction efforts on two private ranches in Africa.

   
Appearance:
Ox-like large brown horned antelope.  Large white brush on tail.  Male horns ranch between 27 - 32 inches.
   
Food Habits:
Mainly grasses plus a large proportion of succulent plants.  Readily live on dry grasses when rains are not present.
   
Habitat:
Dry grasslands.  Use close brush for cover.

I know that this genus (as in the pictures) of Wildebeest is Connochaetes but I don't know if it's gnou or taurinus
